I was at this Indian grocery store buying my mom lentils and Indian veggies, when I got in line and noticed this man working there. I felt this huge wave of sympathy just crash onto me. This man, skinny, short, old, with such large and deep wrinkles on his face portraying the years of hard work and worry that he endured-like those wrinkles you see on ancient tribal people. He was on his knees cleaning the sides of the counters. I just stared, he looked to be the age of my grandfather. I can't even come to explain the rush of emotions I felt watching him, and strangely enough I found myself whispering prayers for him and his family, telling Jesus to not put this man's work to vain. The look on his face was of total dedication to what he was doing. A job that no one would think twice to appreciate, and it was proven when I watched the people around him. I saw total ignorance. They just brushed on by, didn't even see this man. When it was my turn to pay, I handed the cashier my money, received my change, and took once last glance at this wonder of a man before I walked out. It's hours later and I still can't stop thinking about him. I guess that humility that I saw on his face, that look in his eyes is just something you don't see everyday, man that was quite a sight to see. I feel like I just caught a glimpse of Jesus, and with that how can I not smile?

Philippians 4:13
July 13, 2013
I found this new video of a really great speaker, Jefferson Bethke. He's this young guy who makes these youtube videos about pretty good topics relating to Jesus, and our faith.
His newest video is about Philippians 4:13, you know, the famous Bible verse "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," which was also my confirmation verse! At the time when I picked the verse, which my mom actually showed me, I was so excited! It was short, and easy to remember, but... I never really appreciated the meaning of it.
Over the years after my confirmation I would hear other Bible verses and ask myself why I didn't pick that one and why God would want me to have this one. Then things in my life started to get hard and things started to change and the trials I faced opened my eyes made me realize the power behind this small verse, which isn't so small after all. This verse really was my rock in times of trouble, it reminded me where my strength lies, or actually in who my strength lies, and that was amazing! I was never alone, and I never will be. I have this amazing Savior with me, the one who has given me a verse that I can always count on, not just in times of success as Jefferson Bethke says, but also in times of hardship. This verse is kinda like the background music in my life, it's always present, sometimes loud, and other times soft, but always there.
You guys should really listen to the video! Jefferson Bethke gives a really good insight into this verse, in different ways than you would normally take. It certainly opened my eyes! I'll attach the link below!
In other news, work is great! The kids are greater! I work with kids five-ten years old and MAN they can be a handful at times, but also very entertaining. It's funny how I see my childhood in them and how it's actually not that different from what they are living right now. I mean, a lot has changed, but it's interesting to find out the things that haven't, like for example the boys in my class are pretty crazy, always jumping everywhere, making paper planes and flying them around the classroom and oh yea, getting me to spell PIG, and CUP, and PUG backwards (I know you guys are trying it out for yourself, hehe) . This joke is pretty old, it was around when I was a kid! They also believe in cooties, laughing at the girls saying they have cooties in their hair, causing the girls to chase them around the tables whipping their hair back and forth. Like I said, they are pretty entertaining... I also love the little kids who I help out with if there aren't enough teachers. They are SO CUTE, they give me lots of hugs and keep me smiling! We went to this play at this college last week, and on the bus ride there I was sitting adjacent to this little boy, who was playing with his seat belt. I didn't really notice how lose it was, since I secured him in before the bus began to move, so when the bus hit a curb he goes FLYING! Me, being the wonderful teacher I am, starts bursting out laughing while trying to get him back in his seat. I am horrible. After I calmed down, I looked back at him and I started laughing again. I suck.
Working is a lot harder than I thought, I hate waking up before 7, I don't know how I did it in high school. But I'm thankful for an opportunity to feel young with the kids, and for a job. I can't help but smile!
